Shonda Gilliland Foster

Shonda Gilliland Foster is the Program Director for the David H. Smith Conservation Research Fellowship, a partnership between the Society for Conservation Biology and the Cedar Tree Foundation. For more than a decade, Shonda has coordinated the Smith Fellows Program, which supports leading conservation scientists through two years of applied post-doctoral research, supplemented by training programs, peer networking, and field learning experiences. She earned a Master’s degree in Sustainable Development and Conservation Biology at the University of Maryland, College Park, where her research focused on the valuation of ecosystem services provided by the U.S. National Wildlife Refuge System.
