Director, Latin America Program, Rights and Resources Initiative (RRI)
As Latin America Program Director, Omaira provides knowledge on the socio-political context of the region and strategic support to enable opportunities for RRI engagement there. She holds a PhD in Anthropology and a master’s degree in Latin American Studies (focused on conservation and development), both from the University of Florida. She has worked extensively throughout Latin America on sustainable development, collective rights to territory and resources, indigenous peoples’ rights, gender justice, watershed management, and forestry policies. Omaira is a WWF Russell E. Train Fellow.
