Member, Eco Teen Action Network
Kayla Peale is a junior at Yorktown High School in Arlington, VA. She is the founder and president of For A Strawless Sea, a teen-led organization that aims to minimize single-use plastic dependency and encourages responsible consumption through community action and education. She is also an Ambassador to the Eco-Teen Action Network’s Plastics Hub and an intern at the Smithsonian Conservation Commons. She is currently working on implementing an affordable, sustainable, zero-waste alternative to the traditional restaurant food take-out container at Amazon’s new HQ2. She serves as the liaison between affiliated organizations, and as an activist, she has been able to engage a network of teens to advocate for solutions to plastic and styrofoam packaging. She is optimistic that within the coming months this program will be piloted at National Landing. Ultimately, she believes it is up to her generation to try to shift society into a more environmentally conscious mindset.
