Senior Program Officer, Verra

In his role at Verra, Christopher administers the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS), the world’s largest voluntary greenhouse gas program; he also leads Verra’s work on the Climate, Community and Biodiversity Standards (CCB), a co-benefit standard that ensures projects deliver net-positive benefits for climate change mitigation, local communities and biodiversity; and the Sustainable Development Verified Impact Standard (SD VISta), which assesses projects’ contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals. Christopher particularly focuses on providing guidance and support to project developers, third-party auditors, methodology developers and other stakeholders.

Prior to joining Verra, Christopher performed environmental and natural resource management research for the United States Agency for International Development. Before that, Christopher served in the Peace Corps in Zambia as a Rural Aquaculture Extension Agent.

Christopher earned a Master’s Degree in Sustainable Development and Conservation Biology from the University of Maryland. He also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics with a minor in Political Science from Virginia Tech.
