Erin Chapman has been the Operations/Program Manager for Smithsonian’s Conservation Commons after serving on detail with the Commons for a year prior, helping coordinate and execute the first Earth Optimism Summit in 2017. She is focused on Earth Optimism activities at the Smithsonian throughout 2020 and beyond, as well as supporting logistics for the Earth Optimism Summit in April 2020. Erin came to the Smithsonian in 2012 as a Program Assistant with the Office of Fellowships and Internships. Prior to the Smithsonian, Erin was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Zambia from 2009-2011, where she taught fish farming in a rural village. Her Peace Corps experience was part of the Masters International Degree she received from Texas Tech University in Natural Resource Management. Erin holds a BA in Natural History and Humanities from Texas Tech University.
